Well, today is 19 January 2006! As we wrote in the previous news, an open beta-testing of Heroes V should have started today, but, according to the info from the official Ubisoft forums, it won't. Looks like the test won't be open, just extended for larger number of participants. :-/

In addition we wanted to inform all the mapmakers that our mapmaking contest for L-sized HMM3 and HMM4 maps has been prolonged and will last until 1st of May.
Today the Library section have been updated. The following sections were added: Heroes" è "Magic, both concerning Heroes of Might and Magic III. Here (Russian topic) you may discuss the new info or help us to further develop the Library.

Due to the fact that some of the artifacts used in our offline tourneys now cost real money, their status had also changed. Now these artifacts are for single-use only. That is, if a player writes a letter to the tourney-master, asking to allow him to use such artifacts in the Common Tourney, he will get his save with this artifacts, but then they will be taken away from his profile. If you have such artifacts, you may sell it into the Magistrate for their former full price in @ (arroba) until 20.01.2006! To do so, you should write a request at [email protected]. And only in this Royal Games, which will be the last ones in this year, player with the best result will get a diploma and an orc figurine! Another round of Common Tourneys has ended recently. And now, while the administration is preparing a New Year surprise for you, you may take part in the tourneys we told you about in the previous news. There also is a new tourney "The speediest". A characteristic feature of that tourney is that inhabitants of any rank may take part in it, playing on equal terms with others. So, are you ready to prove your superiority over those playing in the High League?
We would also like to inform you that the international online tourney between "Heroes Portal" and "Jaskinia Behemota" still goes on, and the latest score is 6:6 !!!

Today two online tourneys has been announced on our Portal: one on Heroes of Might and Magic IV, and second on Heroes of Might and Magic II. If you want to take part in these tourneys, please enter them by leaving a request in the topics, links to which you see above. Note that in the Heroes of Might and Magic IV tourney you may use the Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Equilibris version. We also remind that the list of the currently active offline tourneys on our Portal you may find here.
The books in our Library are getting more and more. And today we added folios and sections dedicated to Heroes of Might and Magic I. So we propose you to recall the physics of the Heroes of Might and Magic I world, towns, creatures, heroes. If you wish to supplement our Library with your own game analysis, please write to Sir Àyreon or in our Tavern. For now, these sections are in Russian, but the English translation is under way.
On the threshold of the New Year we begin a big contest for the mapmakers. It will last for exactly two months - until February 1st inclusive.
Here are the rules:
1. Only maps of size L will be accepted, but for any versions of HMM3 and HMM4. And only maps with an underground level (L-2) may pretend to get the awards B and C!
2. The contest maps are NOT divided by the game version (that is, HMM3, HMM3.5 and HMM4 maps will go for the same awards).
3. There will be the following three nominations for the contest maps:
a) the most beautiful map (i.e. a picture-map; besides, the outward appearance (form, landscape) should combine with inward beauty);
b) best single-player map (the most interesting single-player scenario; RPG-maps with good storyline are preferred);
c) best multiplayer map (the most balanced map, good for playing online or in Portal's tourneys).
4. The contest maps should be sent at [email protected]. Map filename should be in English (or at least in latin letters), and the subject must specify the desired nomination; a brief map description (if in Russian) should also be present in the letter.
5. All mapmakers who will send a contest map based on a story from the life of Heroes Lands or their inhabitants, will get an additional bonus (150@) after the contest is finished.
6. Winner's prize in every nomination is 2500@, the Foremost Scroll of Knowledge (HMM2) and a memorable status in his profile ("Winner of the map contest - 2005")! Prize for the second place is 1000@ and the Major Scroll of Knowledge, for the third place - 500@ and the Minor Scroll of Knowledge.
